DOODY'S BOOK REVIEW
The purpose is to provide an up-to-date, informative, scholarly, user-friendly book for everyone involved in the field of hematology, ranging from basic science bench researchers to clinical hematologists. These are excellent objectives and the authors certainly meet them, with an outstanding textbook with a wealth of information on both basic and esoteric hematologic disorders.
The book covers the physiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of both benign and malignant hematology disorders. The text is accompanied by detailed images, diagrams, tables, and color pictures. I especially appreciate the consultative hematology section that focuses on hematologic disorders that commonly occur, but are usually left out of general textbooks. An exciting feature of this edition is the accompanying online version, which is excellent in this information age. The fact that the online version will be updated as new information becomes available is a plus.
This outstanding book will be a great resource to hematologists in practice and in training all over the world. It is current, with plans for continually supplementing the online version as more information becomes available, it will continue to be up to date.
