ABOUT THE BOOK
Over 250,000 copies sold! The stock-investing classic from Wharton Professor Jeremy J. Siegel—updated to help professional and personal investors win consistently in the chaotic, post-meltdown global economy
Now in its fifth edition, Stocks for the Long Run includes Siegel’s highly anticipated analysis of the sub-prime crash, the financial crisis, and resulting world-wide recession. This new edition also includes a deeper focus on international investing and emerging markets.
Record US budget deficits have set an unsustainable path of government obligations while in Europe the peripheral countries Greece, Portugal, Spain and others have experienced credit stresses that threatens the solvency of major member states and perhaps even the Euro. The book addresses all these issues, answering such questions as: How do deficits impact growth and equity markets? How does the aging of the population and their burgeoning entitlements impact the economy? What are the sources of long-term economic growth? What are the prospects for the yen and the Euro? Should investors hedge against currency instability?
• This is the first new edition of this bestselling guide since the 2007
• In the past five years, emerging markets have jumped ahead of developed markets, with India and China more than one-third larger than they were before the financial crisis; this book provides critical information on how to earn long-term profits in this new environment
• New chapter on the financial crisis takes a close look at the most important factors causing the crisis; the state of current stability/instability of the financial system (and where the stock market fits in); the viability of value investing as a long-term strategy (Is it still superior to outright indexing?);
• New coverage of the nature and size of the developed markets and the role of diversification in these markets, and the growth and valuation of emerging markets, projecting into the middle of this century
• Siegel has won numerous awards, including the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Securities Industry Association, the Nicholas Molodovsky Award by the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute, the Graham and Dodd Award for the best article published in The Financial Analysts Journal, and the Peter Bernstein and Frank Fabozzi Award for the best article published in The Journal of Portfolio Management
